once upon a time, a girl named summer
lived in splendor and wonder
she made the birds twitter and the rushing river
creation was alive as ever

she made the trees at its fullest lush
praised the blossoms until they blush
touched the butterflies as they gently brush
for one moment till they fly in a rush

but there came a time
she had receded from her prime
rang did the wind of time
saying goodbye with a sad chime

summer slowly slipped away
the greens became brown in decay
drifting clouds slowly turned gray
goodbye summer, may you come back I pray

autumn came
in her graceful body frame
slowly walked like a gentle dame
silent as a lamb that is very tame

but along with her was loneliness
trailing at the end of her rust-colored dress
her eyes so gentle yet filled with sadness
she touched anything with longing caress

until the whole world turned reddish brown
just like the color of her light lace gown
flowers shed their petals down
creatures hid in their shelters with a frown

cold wind blew so gently
as autumn waited by a pond quietly
for the next maiden that would terribly
envelope snow around the world entirely

came winter in a glass ball
from the high sky she gently fall
this maiden that is next in call
to reign the nature above them all

autumn did not say goodbye
she quietly left whispering, "why
does this world have to lie
beneath this freeze... oh why?"

winter... she's so white and cold
turned everything into one big mold
each snowflake obeyed when told
to fall, to cover, to take on hold

for some time, the world soundly slept
beneath the snow they were safely kept
but even though they stayed in the depth
life beneath slowly crept

from the cold crystals of snow
new life will be born, I know
spring would surely glow

life would soon start to flow

as mist started to fade
winter began to bade
a goodbye she uttered and waved
to the white world she had made

along the snow covered ground
came sprouting a bud so proud
little though with the thick snow around
it knows spring is about to bound...

Thoughts

As you sail through the darkest sea
And the mist creeps 'till you cannot see
Do not be afraid, for I'm with thee
Forever, you'll be sailing with me.
