Story #1: Scratch

i'm writing a story. it's kinda long. just wanna share the plot with you guys. please tell me if its okay or if its corny or if its yucky or if its la lang... criticize it if you want. (wag nyo lang murahin ha? iiyak ako...) okay, here goes...

Scratch... scratch... scrrrratch...

It was an old story. Probably a century-old myth that was etched on the musty old brick walls of the 400-year old Hale-Henderson University. A creepy sound was echoing behind the walls of the history section of the library... like scratches, scrapes, and sometimes even moans. Nobody knew what was the story behind the ghostly phenomenon. Much less the thing that lies behind it.

Not until Nathan Griggs entered the university.

Orphaned. Polio-survivor. Crippled. These were the words that made up Nathan's name. Plus the aluminum crutches that made up his entire being. He has been attracting curious, pitiful, and discriminating eyes ever since the polio struck him 10 years ago.

Now that he was entering college, would his life be somehow changed, in a sense that there would be no bullies and taunts? He believed that people in college were more mature and mostly think about their own stuffs and selves that they didn't have the time to notice the people around them... especially the people like him. He has hopes that somehow, his college life would be more peaceful than his high school days.

But he was absolutely wrong. And he just realized it when he met--or should I say, when he bumped with Justin Parks, the least person anybody would want to meet, and worse, to bump with. The 3rd year student was expert in sending people to the hospital, especially those who get on his way. Thanks to Kathleen Goldstein, Nathan's newly found friend. The girl's beauty and smartness saved him from the wrath of Justin.

After that incident, Nathan managed to avoid Justin's way, with the help of new friends (who seemed to be in not-so-good terms with each other).

But his seemingly peaceful days turned upside down when he came across the creepy myth of the school. He couldn't keep himself from investigating and probing for answers. He stirred it back to life when he anonymously published the mysterious issue on the school's newspaper...

But he soon regretted what he had done. If he only knew the horror it would bring to him... if he only knew that it would bring him right into the merciless fist of the ghost... if he only knew how stupid his decision was...

... to be continued.

Thoughts

As you sail through the darkest sea
And the mist creeps 'till you cannot see
Do not be afraid, for I'm with thee
Forever, you'll be sailing with me.
